Luffield Corner Grandstand, Silverstone

THE LOCATION

Silverstone has been the primary home of the Formula British Grand Prix for over seventy years. 2024 was no exception, with a sold-out crowd attending the four-day festival weekend which culminated in the 52-lap race on Sunday 7th July.

Santander is the Official Sustainability Partner at Silverstone. The bank is supporting their evolution to a sustainable smart venue and provides Santander Cycles for visitors and employees along with a fleet of green vehicles on site.

Embrace Building Wraps are one of the key large-scale printed banners providers to Silverstone, with previous projects including a giant printed grandstand banner for the Octo British Grand Prix MotoGP.

The Luffield Corner Grandstand has a prime location for fans at Silverstone, and a stage is erected directly behind the grandstand hosting live music performances shortly after the race concludes.

THE BRIEF

Embrace were appointed to provide a printed wrap to the side and rear elevations of the Luffield Corner Grandstand, which would be used to promote the Edge account from Santander for the duration of the festival and far beyond.

Our client trusted us with the fully managed end-to-end service – from initial survey and engineers’ calculations through every stage including specification of the optimal system and material, large-scale banner printing, on-site installation and ultimately removal and responsible disposal.

THE SOLUTION

The wrap covers the rear and both sides of the grandstand and is the epitome of large-scale printed banners, measuring 105 metres wide and 6 metres tall.

We produced the banner using our specialist in-house printing technology. The main banner is comprised of two separate mesh banners with a seamless join created by using a fully printed vertical cover strip.

The project was installed using a wire frame system that had been meticulously measured and planned by the Embrace team of experts. To complete the high impact look we also used 2.4-metre-tall complimentary red mesh panels to the lower sections of the structure.

The project was delivered to budget – something we guarantee – and on time as you would always expect from Embrace. It will remain in place until September, visible for many more visitors to Silverstone to see over the coming months.

In line with Santander’s sustainability commitments the wrap material will be reused, recycled or undergo waste to energy conversion after removal.
